
Food Processing Supervisor
Program Overview
Program Delivery: Part time; In-class
Program Length: 330 hours
Designation upon graduation: Conestoga College Certificate
This program is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills essential to effectively conduct supervisory activities in a food processing environment. Students will be exposed to exercises, case studies and practical application of supervisory skills related to the food processing work environment.
Courses
Courses included in this certificate are: Food Safety 101, Food Processing Fundamentals, Critical and Creative Thinking, Coaching and Developing People, Developing Effective Teams, Employment Law, Occupational Health and Safety for the Food Processing Industry, Continuous Quality Improvement, Managing Change and Project Management. This program consists of ten mandatory courses that address current food processing issues and trends.
Graduation
Students must successfully complete all courses as outlined in the Program Design. All courses must be completed within 3 years of acceptance into the program in order to graduate.
Career Opportunities and Further Training
- Graduates are prepared for middle management supervisory positions in food processing manufacturing environments
Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the Food Processing Industry OR minimum 1 year experience in a leadership role in the Food Processing Industry OR Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in other manufacturing sectors*.
* Applicants under this category will also have to complete course FOOD 1240 Food Processing II
